You've already decided on pine pollen. The question left is what the tincture gives you that a tub of powder doesn't. The short answer to "pine pollen tincture benefits" is this: both human studies men quote about pine pollen and testosterone gave the men a tincture, under the tongue, twice a day. The research behind pine pollen is research on a dropper bottle.
If you want the plant itself first (where the pollen comes from, how it has been used in China and Korea), start with our full guide to pine pollen. This page is about what men get from the bottle.
Where the testosterone story starts
In 1971, M. Šaden-Krehula, M. Tajić and D. Kolbah published a short paper in the journal Experientia reporting testosterone, epitestosterone and androstenedione in the pollen of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). It was the first time those androgens had been isolated from a plant. Every conversation about pine pollen and men since then traces back to that paper.
For about fifty years the follow-up work stayed in labs. Then two small trials in men came out of the same research group, in 2024 and 2025.
What the pine pollen tincture testosterone studies found
2024, ten men aged 47 to 78
Neil Wolkodoff, Gerald Haase, Robert Mordkin and Stacy Beal ran an eight-week open-label pilot, published in September 2024 in the Annals of Clinical and Medical Case Reports. The men were over 45 and had at least three symptoms they linked to low testosterone. Each took 1 mL of a pine pollen tincture a day, half a dropper in the morning and half in the evening, held under the tongue, five days on and two days off.
Average total testosterone went from 362.5 to 448.4 ng/dL. Nine of the ten men finished with a higher number than they started with. The biggest single change was 282 to 703 ng/dL. Scores on the qADAM, a questionnaire about drive, energy and erections, rose from 23.9 to 31.7, and the authors wrote that both the men and their spouses noticed the difference.
2025, eleven younger men
The same four researchers repeated the design with men aged 25 to 50 (average age about 40), published in May 2025. Same tincture, same 1 mL a day under the tongue, same eight weeks. Free testosterone, the share that isn't bound up in the blood, went from 10.48 to 11.72 ng/dL. SHBG, the protein that binds testosterone, fell from 29.1 to 27.4 nmol/L. On the sexual function questions, scores went from 15.27 to 20.09, and 10 of the 11 men reported a change at their exit interview.
Both trials used a pine pollen tincture made at 300 mg of pollen per mL. Neither used powder or capsules.
Total testosterone rose from 362.5 to 448.4 ng/dL in 8 weeks.
Pine pollen tincture benefits for men, as men describe them
Outside the studies, the reports from men taking pine pollen are plain ones. Stronger morning wood is the first thing many mention. More drive, in the bedroom and at the gym, is the second.
We have more on how men fit it into training and the rest of the week in pine pollen for men.
Pine pollen tincture reviews from inside the trials
The closest thing to a controlled review is the exit interview at the end of each pilot. In 2025, 10 of the 11 younger men said they had noticed a change, and the share scoring above average on the symptom survey went from 6 men to 10. In 2024 the authors reported that every man's qADAM answers moved in the right direction on each question. These were men taking a dropper twice a day for eight weeks, the same routine you'd follow at home.
Why the tincture is the one men keep taking
The best pine pollen is the one you take every day for eight weeks, because that is how long both studies ran. A tincture makes that easy.
- A dropper under the tongue takes about 30 seconds. No blender, no shaker, no spoon.
- The bottle is 50 ml and fits in a jacket pocket, a dopp kit or a gym bag.
- It is the form both human trials used, at a set dose per mL.
- Dark glass keeps light off the extract between doses.
Mara's Pine Pollen is spagyric. The cracked-cell pollen of wild-harvested Pinus radiata is extracted, and then the minerals left behind in the spent pollen are returned to the liquid. The whole plant ends up in the bottle instead of being thrown out with the residue. It is a tincture (an alcohol extract), and the label reads "Simple ingredients: premium quality extract."
If you're comparing glass, dark amber is a step in the right direction. Dark Miron glass is the gold standard, and that's what Mara uses. It keeps light off the extract for the life of the bottle.
The tincture is the form the research used and the form men find easiest to stick with.

Pine Pollen – Spagyric Pine Pollen Tincture
50 ml dropper bottle. Wild-harvested, cracked-cell Pinus radiata pollen.
Add to bagA dropper with your morning coffee
Here is what it looks like in a normal week. One dropper under the tongue while the coffee brews, held for 20 to 30 seconds, then swallowed. On training days, a second dropper in the car park before you walk in. If you'd rather not hold it, stir it into water, juice or a smoothie.
The taste is soft and lightly earthy, with a faint sweetness. At 1 to 2 droppers a day, a bottle lasts 30 to 50 days, so one bottle covers most of an eight-week run and two cover all of it.
If you want to run it like the studies did, keep a simple note of the date you started and what you notice at week two, week four and week eight. Morning wood and drive are easy to track. If you want something more formal, the qADAM questionnaire the 2024 team used is a short published form you can fill in at home.

Questions men ask about pine pollen tincture
Did the pine pollen studies use a tincture or powder?
A tincture. Both the 2024 and 2025 pilots gave the men 1 mL a day of a pine pollen tincture, split into a morning and evening half dropper under the tongue.
How long did the men in the studies take it?
Eight weeks, five days on and two days off each week. The testosterone and questionnaire numbers were measured at the start and at the end of those eight weeks.
What does Mara's pine pollen tincture taste like?
Soft and lightly earthy, with a faint sweetness. Held under the tongue for 20 to 30 seconds, it goes down easily with or before coffee.
Which pine does Mara's Pine Pollen come from?
Pinus radiata. The pollen is wild-harvested and cracked-cell, then extracted spagyrically so the minerals go back into the liquid.
